Football
I went to b-town tonight for the weekly activity, flag football. I got there just in time to join the yellow, and losing team. . .we lost but finally got 2 touchdowns. I *almost* made an interception, and I made a few awesome blocks (I couldn't catch the ball so I batted them to the ground instead and the guys thought I was an awesome blocker). And I have some battle wounds (more like bruises). I'm so glad I went up and played in b-town!
"Applying"
Yesterday my boss handed me the information for the job I am "applying" for. It hasn't been posted quite yet, and will take some revision but it is quite close to what I will be doing. Last Friday J.S., S.L., and Mrs. Librarian met together to discuss some things, one of which was the 1/2 time position that is now left vacant. . . (see 2 posts ago and notes). Really I will not be ready for grad school next fall and I have sort of changed what I want to do. MLS anyone? At 4:20ish S.L. came back from her meeting and pulled me aside and said "would you be interested in a 3/4 time position?" 30 hours a week? Salary? Benefits? Uh, Yeah! "Will you be able to finish school and work 30 hours?" Yeah, no problem!! That is J.S.'s biggest concern, that I won't finish school. . .this year. Hello, one class left after this semester, and if I had to I could go to 1/2 time.
Other than that not much is happening. Classes are good. Cousin L. is in my institute class and I L-O-V-E my guitar class. I'll have to describe my professor in a later post.
Cheers!

Bringer of Bad News.
It seems like I am the one to find things wrong in Special Collections. First it was the book ends sticking to the WOODEN shelves. . .yeah that was fun to pull off. Today while moving some of our manuscript collections I found water damage on some of the boxes. . .do I need to say water and paper doesn't mix? Thankfullywe haven't, and hopefully we won't discover any damage to anything HOUSED in the boxes. The constant struggle of protection for a collection is kind of unnerving. Last week we thought we heard water dripping in the back room. . .nothing came of it. We are buying water detectors that run on 9volt batteries and go off for 72 hours or until taken care of. Maybe someday the University will get with the program and get us a better place to house the books and collections we have here. . .You know like NEVER!! The funniest thing is that our department probably has the most direct contact with powerful people who have LOTS and Lots of moolah, next to development and the president's office. Do you think that sounds important? I wish we were considered more important than we are treated, but if wished were fishes we'd all have a fry. MMM yum fish. . .

Prest-O Change-O
There is a lot going on. . .Or at least it feels like it. Yesterday I copied information for 3 hours on what I believe are extremist people running for president. THREE HOURS!! When my S.L. my boss told the the boss man, J.S. that I was not happy. He said "She does realize she is a student worker, doesn't she?"
S.L.'s reply, "She has been copying for THREE HOURS, and has used a WHOLE ream of paper!"
Ms. Librarian (the head over it all) was not happy to hear that. Ya know, neither was I when I loaded paper from the second ream in the copy machine and looked at the clock. I had been on a roll with shelving books!
(I love Pandora radio!) Jack Johnson did a cover of Imagine. Did you know that? It is Awesome!
Apparently WSU Archives and Special Collections is going to be mixed up a little. I am looking forward to it too. It will be nice to work right under the head and not have to worry about her sneaking up on me and find me taking a break by playing a game or typing in my blog. I also get a place to process and not have to worry about cleaning it up every night. THAT will be nice!

Sigh of Relief
I am so happy that S is out and K is in and J will be in and CC is moving up (and approves of J). Good feelings now roam free in the apartment and it feels SO much better than it did before. Thank goodness. I think I will feel so much more secure once we get the keys back from S (hopefully tonight).
When I walked in the door last night it was empty (she practically took everything that was not tied down) but the spirit had entered again and it felt very welcoming to be able to feel it. It is such a lovely feeling.

I love B-town!
Becca and Kevin made me happy tonight. We talked and had fun bowling with the wardies. Becca asked me for the chisme. It is so good to feel loved. Denton smells good. . .too bad he's so immature and such. . .and flirts with "everything female that moves." I "kicked" his butt. . .but not hard. To get back at me he put his hand on my back and started rubbing it till he found my bra strap which he immediately flipped. It wasn't hard and it didn't hurt. It was kind of funny and I laughed. Man, he smells GOOD! Scooter came up to bowl, CC invited him. I guess he told cc that I should smile more because I'm cute. I don't know how I feel about that. The Wouden boys are hotties.
I also got Kevin to move Becca's jewelry chest upstairs on a commercial. It was funny. I got called "the ax." She has wanted him to move it for like a week. She thanked me. It was cute and funny that I got her fiance to move something (with scooter's help) that she wanted him to move. They are so cute together!

Forgetful.
Apparently I had a meeting last night that I forgot about. CC reminded me when it was WAY too late to do anything about. GAH!!!

Questions people ask Special Collections
We have all kinds of questions people ask and today was one of the dumbest ones so far.
Mostly we get:
Why are these books back here?
How come I can't look at the 1st edition Book of Mormon? (whats the point of having it if no one (even sc staff can't look at it? I've never seen it))
Can I check these out?
(mostly over the phone) I need to find out why my tuition wasn't paid. . .or something to do with the cashiers office (I answer Stewart Library Special Collections and they still do it!)
Today a girl came in and said "I need to get a book in Special Collections."
"Well, you've come to the right place."
"Are they back there?"
"Yes"
"Can I go back there and get it?" (the door says "Authorized Personnel Only")
"No, I'm sorry. Please fill out this form and I will get it for you. Do you have the dewy decimal number?"
"Yes. . ." (She begins to fill out the slip which asks for name, phone, address, material requested and if you are a student, faculty, or member of the community.) After filling out her name she says "Is all of this really necessary to fill out?"
By this time I was getting tired of her and had other patrons to help so I said: "we need either your address or phone number so that if the book is damaged we can contact you." Truly that is all it is for and because of the patriot act after they are done with the book and we have checked for damage the paper gets trashed. What I felt like saying: "I asked you to fill out this form did I not? I'm sorry but I can't help you unless I have everything filled out!! Oh, and since you asked if it is necessary add your SS and C Card number too."
She reluctantly put her phone number down, and the author and title of the book. . .no DEWY!!!! Saying yes means you have it doesn't it?

So, apparently I'm making more.
Starting YESTERDAY I am now at $7 an hour! I know it isn't much but the improvement will help SO much. Thanks to boss lady and head boss lady!! Back in April I was raised to $6.40 and now I am increased again! Happy Day!!! That and an increase in hours for more money.

IKEA!!!
CC talked me into going to IKEA and it was WONDERFUL. Thanks CC! Tonight was college night and to get a free "gift" (a frisbee or tool) and a gold envelope. . . if you showed your student ID. We met Kip there and went in and flashed our id's and received our gifts and then our "drawing" freebie. Then we went upstairs and opened our envelopes. . . I got $100 gift card, Kip got $25 and CC got a free hot dog ( and it wasn't even really free cause she has to buy one to get one. . .lame) I nearly passed out and almost cried. SERIOUSLY. Free $100! I was SOOO excited. I thought that it said 1.00 not 100. I spent 32 of it so I have about 67 left. I did buy something for cc cause I felt bed about it. Hope she enjoys her light! I bought a veggie steamer and a reading light that is now by my bed and I love it! I am going to think about what I want to spend the rest on because I could use some more storage things, like drawers and such.

The Ultimate Player. . .
I have been listening to Tolstoy's book Anna Karenina on CD. There is one character that strikes me as the ultimate player and then eventually adulterer Ronsky and I know I didn't spell it right either.
I have been dealing with more DUMB feelings. . .I told CC that I wanted to make out. . .I really would love to, but seriously? Come on, I can see how it would make me feel the same I do now, and maybe even more lonely and worthless. Hmm. . .experience. Been there, done that, got rid of the boy. Talk about feeling used.
I just feel lonely right now.

Gone. . .
I keep going to up date but when I get to the page to do it all of my desires fly out the window. I could have written a HUGE entry about the return of the ANNOYING insurance sales man, and being harassed and such, but I don't feel like it. . . My name is off their calling list YAY!!!
I don't need to write about the shredded tire and swearing and and how my cousins were while they got their hair cut. . .CC took care of that. Don't desire to write anything more about that.
Today was okay. I got asked to speak in church next week on the importance of temple attendance/why the temple is important and should at the center of our membership. . . etc. I love the ward but wish I could have a hug from a boy, or be noticed or asked out or anything like that. . .is that too much to ask!?!?! To have a social life?
I wanted to cry at church. I still want to cry, it would be nice to have someone who wants to spend time with me not in my immediate family or in my immediate circle of girlfriends. No strings attached. All I want is ENJOYMENT. . .and a SOCIAL LIFE. . .and most importantly to go on a DATE. Is that too hard to ask? I mean REALLY. Stoopid JK! (this is reference to a BOY with the same initials) Yes we talked again, he is a friend. . .I am a Wendy. . .I hate that. . .he doesn't "believe in dating his friends." I'm not even really looking for comfort or anything like that. I feel frustrated that because I am still at WSU nothing is going to happen. It most likely won't until I am either at the end of grad school or working in the "real world." This SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some times it is hard to sit and watch things happen for other people but not yourself.
Some times it is hard to understand the GREAT and WONDERFUL plan Heavenly Father has for you.
Some times it is hard to be you. . .

Shopping is usually fun.
Not when it is for insurance.
I signed up for some free quotes for health insurance and the first call I got was from a company that is a middle man and will swindle you out of $100 extra $ for their "services." This guys name was "Roy Studley" no kidding!! He tried to get me to sign up for a plan over the phone. I am NOT that stupid (disclaimer: I am stupid on certain days and at certain times) Luckily it wasn't one of those times. When I got the call it was from an 800 number and I was like oh, its a telemarketer but I answered anyway. The guy told me that there would be a possibility that wouldn't be able to find insurance (because of medications) for around $100, never mind the fact that I had been looking and there are places that I CAN get insurance for around that price. I told him that figure to see what he would come up with. I also said something about having a letter stating that I can't be denied insurance and he bit into me about that and how I would get charged triple the price if I even MENTIONED that I had a letter like that.
There was an "application fee" of $100 and the guy was so fast talking that he tried to get my ccard number and I wouldn't give it to him. I told him that I needed to think about it and talk with my parents to see what their advice would be. He said oh, are they paying for it? I said they might be helping me but they won't be covering it all. He said (and quite rudely I might add) "Well Miss Cake your parents aren't going to be paying for it, so it is up to you to decide if you are going to have insurance, it is YOUR choice." (at the end he raised his voice and it ticked me off even more) If you don't already know I'm the type of person who WILL NOT be forced into something that I don't want or have to do. The harder someone pushes the harder I reject. I said I'm sorry I will call you back when I have decided. I'm not calling back and if they call me I am going to ask them to put me on their do not call list, and also ask to talk to a supervisor and let them know HOW I was treated."
I went from sure I might be insurable to scared that all my experiences were going to be like that.
At about 1:45 I got another call from a NICE insurance guy. . .an actual INSURANCE representative not an inbetweenie-weenie. Because he was kinder and calling from an 801 area code I let him know that I was looking for options and that I would ultimately decide. He explained how insurance works and what might happen and why. He also said don't be scared that you won't be able to get ANY insurance because you can get limited insurance. He also EXPLAINED to me how it worked. He was very nice and gave me options and then said cup cake talk to your parents, tell them what I told you and if you have any questions at all CALL me. I'll even talk to your parents and re-explain it to them. (So much nicer and kinder and such.) Let me know what you find out. He even said I will meet with you because no one should buy insurance over the phone and he added that it wasn't like a cell phone plan where I couldn't decide that I didn't want it and have to pay for it any way. Much nicer, more positive experience.

Hip Hip Hooray!!!!
I LOVE MY DADDY!!!!! My car has been acting up and the check engine light WAS on. It has been on for quite some time and I have been asking my dad to fix it. When I can't get him to fix something I turn to my mom and she works her magic. This time all it took was "What do I have to buy to fix cupcake's car?" He made time to do so today. We, and I do mean we cause I like to tinker and help under the hood, replaced the spark plug wires. . .they were factory originals (my car is a 2002) 1 spark plug and put a bottle of lucas fuel injector cleaner in the gas. As I was driving back to the apartment the light went off. SO HAPPY!!!
The happy happy happy side is now I can drive my car to Lava and have some "Personal Time" YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

Oh my stars. . .
I really need to clean my room so that I can study for the GRE and also look for sources of recreation using salt (undergraduate research grant). It seems like every time I am determined to clean some thing happens, like tonight. I had a migraine when I got home and had to lay down and ended up falling asleep. I got up at seven and had dinner and now I feel overwhelmed as I sit and type. . .I hate that feeling and it seems like I can't ever get away from it. It is difficult to want to do certain things even though I know should.

Good Freakin' Grief!!!
I went to pay my Old Navy Bill and I found out that I am a day late and so they are charging me $25 for a late fee! GAH!!!! I went to post it on line but it will still take 2 more days to get them the money. This is so frustrating I think I'm going to cancel my O.N. Card and my L.B. cards so that I don't spend money I don't really have. Looks like it is time to start selling my plasma (as soon as I am off of my antibiotic) . . . that should be FUN! Blarg!

I often go walking in meadows of clover. . .
Not really but I wish. Yesterday I walked to and from church. It was really nice and I enjoyed it. The sun is hot, but dang it felt good to be outside! I have discovered how much I LOVE walking. I am slightly sunburned, but it is fading fast.
I got set apart for my calling as Ward History Specialist. . .YAY!!!!!!!! Can you say help my portfolio? Its awesome, I'm so excited and can't wait to start. I have been thinking of staying in the ward after school starts. . .it is very tempting, but we'll see how my fall semester goes.
